In this film, we tell the inspiring story of Evergreen, a Muslim female-led organisation based in Derby. Founded by Misba Khan, the organisation has grown into a thriving community hub offering everything from boxing and cycling to arts, crafts, and hiking.
The film explores the transformative impact of Evergreen’s work on mental and physical wellbeing, while also highlighting the importance of representation and the challenges of leading as visibly Muslim women.
The film includes footage of the neglected Apna Madeley Centre, a former youth centre which closed in 2019 but is now being brought back to life through a Community Ownership Fund grant. Once renovated, the centre will offer sports, fitness and educational programs to mainly female groups in the area.
