Running a Food Project

Top tips & quick links

One of the most common mutual aid endeavours is to run a food project. As food is an essential service and form of nourishment to those in the community, it is increasingly becoming key to providing a service that helps people to feed themselves as to avoid poverty and impoverishment.

This comes in many forms such as food co-ops, community kitchens, cafes, food banks, and cooking hubs.

As part of this work, food regulations and policies have to be practiced. You can find out more here in this blog: LocalTrust Community Fridge

Policies and procedures – as you grow you will find more need for policies and procedures. Most Councils for Voluntary Service (CVS) will be able to help with this and may have sample policies and templates. See the list here to find your local London CVS.
