Writing Planning Policies

Your neighbourhood plan is only as good as the planning policies it contains. These need to be clear, relevant and deliverable. Planning jargon can seem like a foreign language so this guide shows how to write planning policies which will address the issues that matter to your neighbourhood.

The guide should be read in conjunction with Locality’s Neighbourhood Plans Roadmap guide and Keeping it Simple. These provide an accessible summary of how to produce a neighbourhood plan. The government’s Planning Practice Guidance is also useful for neighbourhood planning.
