Leeds event for Councillors: Building powerful communities through community ownership and local commissioning
Tiger 11, Leeds
Thursday 22 Mar 18 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Community ownership is a route for genuine devolution of control and resources to neighbourhoods, giving people a stake in shaping local development and the local economy, and enabling service transformation. Councillors have a vital role in championing and enabling these approaches.
Join Locality and Power to Change for the launch of a new guide for councillors on supporting community asset transfer (CAT). Discuss the opportunities that CAT can bring to your community, and hear case studies and learning from councils and communities that are demonstrating the power of community through community asset ownership.
Locality will also be launching a new guide for councillors around local commissioning – using the learning from their latest report ‘Powerful Communities, Strong Economies’ to show how councillors can ‘Keep it Local’ in commissioning and procurement, generating greater value to the local economy.
