We are here to offer advice to anyone with an interest in the Community Ownership Fund.

We can offer advice and support in a number of different ways as the official delivery partner for the Department for Levelling up Housing and Communities (DLUHC).

Useful resources

My Community offers a range of resources on topics relating to the Community Ownership Fund. This includes information about the fund and other useful guides to help groups to develop and manage sustainable community assets.

You can search for resources and guides using the search box at the top of the website or you can visit the main Community Ownership Fund page for a selection of information that we have put together.

We can provide initial advice to all interested applicants to determine whether a project is eligible to apply to the Community Ownership Fund and help you to submit an EOI (expression of interest) form to the funder (DLUHC).

Please look at our FAQ as this might help to answer your questions before you submit an enquiry.

If you have questions about the Community Ownership Fund or the support available, please get in touch.

After you have submitted an EOI form, you may be offered in depth support with a development support provider. The support will help you to develop your project proposal and make a strong application to the Community Ownership Fund if that is the right next step for you.

This in depth support can include:

  • 1:1 advice and coaching
  • help with developing a business case, organisational governance and finance planning
  • a small revenue grant to secure specialist support such as legal advice or building surveys

Offers of in depth support can only be made if you have a clear project proposal and need help to develop the project, build organisational capacity and address potential areas of risk.

Offers of support will also take into account levels of community need where the community asset is located and will ensure support is provided across the UK and across asset type.

There are 10 development support providers who are available to deliver this in depth support. The support providers cover the whole of the UK with a high level of knowledge and experience of working with organisations developing a range of community assets.

Small revenue grants

If you are receiving in depth support you may also be recommended for a small revenue grant and a reduced match funding requirement for the COF in exceptional circumstances. Whether your project will be recommended for reduced match funding will be determined on a case by case basis after in depth support has been successfully delivered.

Support after a COF grant has been awarded

Once you have made a successful application you might need further assistance to draw down the capital grant and deliver your project. You might be referred for in depth support with this by DLUHC.
